Religious Rebels

£5.00

Objective: Explore individuals who stood up for what they believed – often at great personal cost – and consider their relevance for today.

Key Questions: What, if anything, should scare me/us? Am I proud of my past – should I be? How have believers shown courage?

By the end of this unit

All learners will:

have considered the lives of the religious rebels in some detail, developed some knowledge and understanding about their significance and begun to make some connection with the questions these lives raise for their own life.

Most learners will:

also have begun to understood that the lives considered reveal a number of truths about human nature – including many flaws – and that human nature can be capable of being both very destructive and yet can aspire to great levels of achievement.

Some learners will:

also evaluate their own lives and contributions in the light of the lives considered and recognise that there may be opportunities which they could take up to help transform areas of personal, local or international challenge.

N.B. many lessons are accompanied by short film clips which you may find useful as a part of your lesson.
