Peace Informed and Trauma Aware - Training Course

A peacemakers training course exploring how restorative practices can be trauma informed practices.

Who is this course for?

A warm and informed group are sought to explore how we might incorporate new research around trauma and ACES to develop our restorative practice, specifically in education settings. Friends of Peacemakers who have substantial experience of RP in schools are warmly invited to help us test this pilot training course. We are limiting the numbers to 10 participants so as to ensure a quality trainer – participant ratio.

An Introduction to Restorative Approaches in Schools

What is a Restorative Approach?

A restorative approach offers schools an alternative way of addressing discipline and behavioural issues and offers a consistent framework for responding to these issues. The aim of this training is to contribute to the building of a strong, mutually respectful, safe, inclusive and peaceful school community.

Who is this course for?

This introductory restorative practice training course is for people working in education and the community. It will provide participants with the background knowledge and skills that are required to use informal restorative practices in their day to day work. The course will introduce participants to the philosophy and language of restorative practices. It also engages participants in identifying how to apply this innovative and relational way of dealing with conflict into their daily work.

3 day Restorative Practitioner Training Course (RJC Approved)

What is a Restorative Approach?

A restorative approach offers schools an alternative way of addressing discipline and behavioural issues and offers a consistent framework for responding to these issues. The aim of this training is to contribute to the building of a strong, mutually respectful, safe, inclusive and peaceful school community.

Who is this course for?

This 3-day Restorative Practitioner training course is for people working in education, social care, health and community settings and will equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to use a formal restorative conference facilitation process to resolve conflict and repair harm.  

The course introduces participants to the philosophy and language of restorative practices. It also engages participants in identifying how to apply this innovative and relational way of dealing with conflict in their setting. Delegates have the opportunity to look at how to use restorative circles and informal restorative chats to create positive, caring and compassionate learning environments. Some action planning is included as part of the course so that you leave with concrete ‘next steps’ for your organisation.
